Minor damage reported at Surmont as production resumes

Minor damage reported at Surmont as production resumes

After over a month of being offline, ConocoPhillips has announced the restart of production at its Surmont thermal in-situ facility which was shutdown on May 5th due to encroaching wildfires.

The company reported very minor damage to the plant with no material impact to ongoing operations.

Production is expected to ramp up gradually to pre-fire levels of 60,000 barrels per day. The latest phase of expansion (Surmont 2) just started producing oil last fall.
