Energy stocks end the week on a positive note

Summary of today's energy market action:
  • Oil prices ended the day unchanged despite rumours of a pending 500,000 bbl/day increase by OPEC and friends. The US dollar rebounded 0.3%.
  • Energy stocks had a good day on both sides of the border, rising 0.8% in Canada and 0.7% in US markets.
  • Gibson Energy (GEI.TO +5.1%) hit a new 52-week high after being upgraded by National Bank. Parkland Fuel (PKI.TO +1.6%) broke out to a new record high.
  • PrairieSky (PSK.TO +0.3%) hit an intraday 52-week low before rebounding by the end of the day.
  • Most SPX energy components ended the day higher, with ConocoPhillips (COP +1.2%) hitting a new 52-week high.
