Summary of this week's US Petroleum Status Report for the week ending April 26, 2019:
  • Commercial crude oil inventories rose by almost 10 million barrels last week. Most of the gains were seen in the Gulf Coast (PADD 3), where stockpiles rose over 9 million barrels.
  • Stockpiles at the Cushing storage terminal, included in PADD 2 figures, rose by 265,000 barrels.
  • Total US crude production ticked up 100,000 bbl/day, to a new record high of 12.3 million bbl/day.
  • Crude exports dropped 3% to 2.6 million bbl/day, while imports rose 4% to 7.4 million bbl/day.
  • Imports of Canadian crude declined 2% to 3.6 million bbl/day.
  • Overall US refinery utilization decreased from 90.1% to 89.1% last week. Rates in the Midwest (PADD 2) fell from 91.8% to 85.9%.
