Utilization rates in the Midwest restored to almost full capacity

Summary of this week's US Petroleum Status Report for the week ending Jun 14, 2019:
  • Commercial crude oil inventories decreased by 3.1 million barrels last week. The Gulf Coast (PADD 3) saw a decline of almost 6 million barrels, while the East Coast (PADD 1) and West Coast (PADD 5) each added about 1 million barrels.
  • Total US crude output dipped another 100,000 bbl/day last week, bringing total output to 12.2 million bbl/day.
  • Crude exports rose almost 10% to 3.4 million bbl/day, while imports decreased 2% to 7.5 million bbl/day.
  • Imports of Canadian crude little changed at 3.69 million bbl/day.
  • Overall US refinery utilization continues to improve, rising to almost 94% last week. Rates in the Midwest (PADD 2) jumped from 88% to almost 96%.
  • Gasoline inventories declined 1.7 million barrels last week, while both imports and exports rose 20%.
  • Distillate stockpiles dipped by 551,000 barrels. Consumption dropped 7% to 4.1 million bbl/day.
  • Total imports for petroleum products declined 18% to 2.1 million bbl/day, while exports increased 14% to 5.4 million bbl/day. Consumption dipped slightly to 20.8 million bbl/day.
